Postdoc Position

We are looking for a Postdoc in the Medical Informatics Division for three years starting in January 2021.

The third-party funded research project deals with the integration of germline and somatic genetic profiles by machine learning to understand the etiology of esophageal cancer. Esophageal adenocarcinoma (EAC), also known as Barrett’s carcinoma, poses a major socio-medical challenge because it is a highly aggressive neoplasm that usually develops at a late stage and is generally resistant to chemotherapy. The aim of the project is to better understand the underlying molecular mechanisms of this cancer. To this end, machine learning methods (e.g., Deep Learning, Ensemble Learning) will be used to identify biomarkers and to develop an AI-based Polygenic Risk Score.
The tasks include the implementation and evaluation of methods of biomarker discovery, machine learning, as well as the integration of biomedical data and prediction models into cloud-based analysis software.

We expect the candidate to have a PhD in computer science, data science, statistics, or bio/medical informatics. Experience in machine learning and bioinformatics are required. Good programming skills and a willingness to work in interdisciplinary collaboration with researchers from biology and medicine is expected.

He/She will be paid according to TVH-13 (i.e., approx. 60,000€ per year depending on experience)

Please send your application, including motivation letter, cv, and certificates with reference number DeepInsight as subject to Dominik.heider@uni-marburg.de by 30.09.2020 at the latest.
